August 29 is the closing day of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. This test site, of national importance, brought suffering to thousands of human destinies.

During 40 years, starting from 1949, 456 nuclear tests were conducted on the territory of Kazakhstan, which led to serious damage to the ecology of our country.

On August 29, 1991, there was finally silence at the test site, which brought only misfortune to our people.

Today Kazakhstan serves as an example for the whole world by resolutely approaching the issue of nuclear disarmament.
