Charyn Canyon

Charyn Canyon is located 195 kilometers from the city of Almaty, 180 kilometers from the Talgar district. The Charyn River, flowing along the canyon, is considered the largest river valley.

In 2005, a reserve was established in the territory of the canyon and Chagan Forest. Currently, 17 plants, 62 mammals, 103 nesting birds, and 62 reptiles are listed in the “Red Book” and are under protection.
