22 June – 130th anniversary of the birth of Magzhan Zhumabayev

Magzhan Zhumabev Bekenovich – was born in 1893 in North-Kazakhstan region. He was a supporter of Alash movement, a remarkable Kazakh writer, poet, publicist, one of the founders of the new Kazakh literature. From an early age, having learned the Russian language, he freely immersed himself in Russian literature and culture.
He gained his first popularity thanks to the collection of his poems “Sholpan”, published in 1912. The first stage of Zhumabayev’s creative path covers the period from 1910 to February 1917. The poet uses the national liberation struggle in his works. His words become louder and louder the more courageously the poet turns to history in his poems.
